Denali Montessori School Geography Bee Results

The students did a wonderful job at the Geo Bee!  They had great memories, were thoughtful, and got correct answers time after time. They were also pleasant and good sports.  There were 7 preliminary rounds, a series of final rounds, and 1 championship round. Out of 7 preliminary rounds there were 2 students with perfect 7′s, 3 with with 6′s,  and a strong showing by all. The students worked hard and did a grand job.

The winner is Kenny Petrini, who never missed a question!  Bryant Bohlken is the second place winner, and Carson Washburn is 3rd place.

Kenny will take a written qualifying test and then will be a participant in the Alaska State Geographic GeoBee in April

This was a super group and they have decided to keep practicing, meeting one day a week.   We had wonderful help from Mrs. Fran Weier, our PTA President and Mrs. Chris Scally in announcing and scorekeeping.  A huge thanks to Mrs. Nelson for letting us have the library.

Student’s In The Spotlight

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Congratulations to two of our Denali students who have big parts in this year’s Concert Association’s presentation of the Nutcracker. They were chosen at auditions with the Oregon Ballet Theater. Brian Britt from Mrs. Torpy’s room will perform as Fritz-the boy who breaks the Nutcracker while Grace Kubitz, from Mrs. Riley’s room, plays the part of Marie/Clara. This character receives the Nutcracker as a gift.

Brian and Grace will perform Friday, November 23rd at 7:30 pm, on Saturday, November 24th at 2:00 pm, and on Sunday, November 25th at 5:00 pm. Please think about attending one of their performances. We are very lucky to have two such demanding parts be given to our students and for them to be able to perform together. Way to go, Grace and Brian. Now go break a leg!
