Karen Glavinic

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

As some of you may know already, our technology guru and beloved staff member Karen Glavinic has been out of the classroom for a couple of months now. She is currently in the hospital and has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of bone cancer. Her family and friends have set up a blog at Caringbridge for people who are interested in keeping tabs on her progress. Parents are encouraged to share information with their children as appropriate, and kids are also welcome to leave comments in her guestbook. More details and contact information are available on her blog at caringbridge.org/visit/karenglavinic

Denali’s Website For Kids

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Do you want some educational, but fun websites to visit with your kids over the long Thanksgiving weekend? Visit Denali’s Websites For Kids.  Many Denali students are already familiar with this site because they use it when their teachers take them to computer lab, but they may not know they can also access it from home.  Just choose a subject and you will find lists of teacher recommended online sites to keep your child’s online experience fun and educational.  The stars identify the websites that are best for your child’s age group, but are mostly decided by necessary reading ability.  Parents with younger children can visit the higher sites and read the words to their child for some family computer time together.

Don’t forget to spend some time together reading books, playing board games, and playing outside too.  Have fun!

Thank you for taking the time at registration to make sure you were signed up for the Denali website updates.  Not everyone has remembered the last, very important step of confirming their subscription in their e-mails.  If you know any parents who are not yet receiving these updates, please remind them of this step.  If the e-mail was accidently deleted they can visit the website (denalischool.org) and enter their e-mail address again.  Thank you for your assistance in helping make sure everyone is receiving the Denali Montessori School information.
